amaryllis

Did you know...

Our Christmas Bulbs have arrived-Amaryllis and Paper Whites! Usual flowering time for the amaryllis is 7-10 weeks.  Remember, size does matter-larger bulbs produce more flowers.  Paper Whites generally bloom within 4-6 weeks of planting. Add the beauty of nature to your holiday festivities this season with real flowers!

THINK ABOUT

You can bury a lot of troubles digging in the dirt.

Half the interest of a garden is the constant exercise of the imagination.

Dear E Bloom Friend -

Last week, I was lucky enough to have some time with my college-aged kids. I suggested we make a quick trip to the botanical garden — they said yes even without a bribe. They did wonder what would we be looking at though. By now most of the foliage is gone and the beds are starting their deep winter slumber.

The winter garden may seem a little blah to some, but it can actually be very intriguing. You now view only the “bones” of the trees and shrubs or the meandering paths that somehow fade in comparison to the spring foliage and flowers. Walking down the paths you realize how much more there is to the gardens than just green. In the winter, you can actually study the skeleton of a garden. This skeleton structure is the backdrop that all the rest of the garden relies on to make its complete presentation. Our visit, though shortened by our busy schedules, was actually more fun than they thought.

Now that the Thanksgiving holiday is over, reality hits us in the face and we see our shopping lists growing as the holiday pace is stepping up. So, if you’re dashing off to make everyone on your gift list happy , let us help make decking your halls easy. A simple wreath adorned with pinecones and cedar will delight your senses with the smells of Christmas. Or choose a heart-shaped wreath to give to your favorite gardener. We also have a fresh greenery 26” long Cross which looks beautiful hanging on the door. It’s perfect for a memorial, too. Use our Cedar roping (it’s much fuller than pine) to quickly dress your mantel or staircase in holiday fashion. We also have plenty of garden inspired items to make all the gardeners on your list smile, even if that gardener is you.

As 2009 is coming to a close, I can hardly believe that we’ll be celebrating our 5th year anniversary in January. Five years of enjoying all the new faces and friends I’ve made just doesn’t seem possible. Time really does fly when you’re having fun! This year has again been our BEST yet and I have all of you wonderful customers to thank for that. I sincerely thank each and every one of you for your business and hope you know this comes from the bottom of my heart. I just can’t imagine doing anything else. Helping you with your gardening needs has been a pleasure beyond compare!

My holiday toast to you and yours: “May all your troubles be small, weeds be few, blooms be plentiful and your mower start on the first pull this spring."

To you, my friend, I wish a very Merry Christmas!
