About Us...

Sandy Richter, in pursuing her passion for gardening, realized her dream by opening Sandy’s Back Porch in 2004. The business had its origins as Nollau Garden Center which opened circa 1946 and moved to its present location on West Blvd in 1950. Sandy and her staff are dedicated to continuing the neighborhood tradition of customer service for shade or sun, we’ve got the right plant for the right spot. f you’re not quite sure what type of plant you need, Julia can help. Her extensive knowledge of perennials (along with a keen eye for design) comes from years of gardening experience.

In our garden shop you’ll find loads of garden accessories, tools and gifts, too.

We have solutions for most problems or challenges that gardeners may face. Organics are always our first choice for fighting diseases and pests. One of our favorite organic products is mushroom compost. Once you’ve tried it, you’ll be hooked. It’s agreat soil amendment and natural fertilizer!
